AJ's Car of the Day: 1967 Dodge Dart GT Convertible

Car: Dodge Dart GT Convertible

Year: 1967

What makes it special: In 1967, the Dodge Dart was restyled, but along with the cosmetic changes, it also received a revised steering system, wider front track and frame rail spacing, and redesigned K-member making the Dart capable of accepting larger engines.

What made it famous: The Dodge GT "GTS" model, which featured a high-powered, performance engine in favor of luxury accessories, for raw, "white knuckle" performance.

Why I would want one: The Dodge Dart GT was available out of the box with an optional 273 High-Performance V8 with a 4-speed manual transmission, and the GTS versions could climb as high as a 383 4-barrel V8 with a 4-speed...plus, the "Bumble Bee" rear racing stripe just plain looks cool.

Fun fact: The Dodge Dart GT GTS model  was built in limited quantities due to its lateness in the model year, making it very collectible.
