AJ's Car of the Day: 1967 Chevrolet Impala SS 427

Car: Chevrolet Impala Super Sport (SS) 427 V8

Year: 1967

What makes it special: The scarce factor: few were sold since muscle car fans were leaning the way of big-block intermediates, like the Chevrolet Chevelle SS396 and Plymouth's Road Runner models.

What made it famous: 2,124 were ordered as RPO Z24, a special performance package that included RPO F41 heavy-duty suspension and other performance goodies, 385 brake horsepower, Turbo-Jet 427-cubic-inch V8, a special trim package with large "SS427" emblems on the front grille and rear trim , and a special hood with fake chrome-plated intake.

Why I would want one: The Impala SS 427 is usually overlooked when it comes to Chevrolet muscle cars as they normally have to stand in the shadows of the more sought after Camaro's, Nova's, and Chevelle Super Sport models.

Fun fact: 400 1967 Chevrolet Impala Super Sports that were produced came equipped with a six cylinder engine...making one exclaim..."W.T...(insert your version here)!!"
