1969 Pontiac GTO Judge Ram Air IV Convertible

Here is one sweet Poncho in the "AJ C.O.T.D". Very rare too...so rare, that it is the only one produced from the factory in triple black. The 1969 Pontiac GTO Judge Ram Air IV Convertible.

By far, THE Pontiac GTO package was the Ram Air IV, it was the most potent engine option available from the Pontiac Division of General Motors, and it was occasionally ordered with "The Judge". To have such a package combined with a convertible, you have probably created the most desireable and now collectible Pontiacs of all time.

Back in 1969, a range of engines were available with the GTO, but The Judge option came standard with the Ram Air III package, which was no slouch by any means. It had 366 hp with 445 ft lbs of torque and was able to fight toe to toe with the Ford Boss Mustangs and Hemi Mopar offerings. But, as an upgrade option, the buying public could have the even more powerful Ram Air IV mill, which then raised the output to 370 hp with 445 ft lbs of torque.

The Ram Air IV used new cylinder heads, new rockers, a more radical camshaft and an aluminum intake manifold with a Rochester Quadrajet carburetor. Air conditioning was deleted and you had your choice of either a 4-speed manual or automatic transmission.

Your other standard features of the 1969 Pontiac GTO Judge included a full width rear deck spoiler, tri-color body side stripes, and 14 X 6 inch Rally II wheels. Any of the GTO options could be ordered with the Judge package as well. The car in the photo is sporting such delectible goodies as a close ratio 4-speed, a heavy duty Safe-T-Track rear, covered headlights, power steering and power brakes. And if you want a reason to run crying to your basement to attempt to build yourself a time machine...the delivered cost of this Judge when new was (wait for it), $5,147.27. Yep.

And just like the Tigger character in the animated children's favorite "Winnie the Pooh" used to sing, this Starlight Black 1969 Pontiac GTO Judge Ram Air IV convertible is..."the only one!"
