20 Albums, 20 Days: Ozzy Osbourne ‘Blizzard of Ozz’

Ozzy was out of Black Sabbath and really down on his luck. With a kick in the ass from Sharon, he started to audition musicians for a solo album. Randy Rhoads was immediately a stand out and the rest of the band fell into place. Randy was a massive inspiration to Ozzy and even though it is considered an Osbourne solo album, the input of Rhoads can’t be understated. The album gave us the masterpiece “Crazy Train”, as well as fan favorites like “Mr. Crowley” and “I Don’t Know”.

Fun Fact: Most of the guitar players that auditioned for Ozzy ripped off Eddie Van Halen’s famed finger tapping. Randy Rhoads went from that to blues to classical playing.
