20 Albums, 20 Days: Foo Fighters ‘The Colour and the Shape’

Dave Grohl recorded the first Foo Fighters album all by himself. For the second record he had put a band together and started to work differently. The producer of the record polished up their sound and Grohl wrote much more from the heart. He wrote about his marriage crumbling, his frustrations with the band and not once did he rely on “nonsense lyrics” like his first album. He came up with classics like “My Hero” and “Everlong”.

Fun Fact: With the recording of the album going terribly, Dave returned home to Virginia and worked on a new song all by himself. That song was Everlong.
